THE HISTORY Rygel is a star wich has 35 times the size of the sun, situated in the constellation of Orion. This star baptized in the year of 2000 the eclectic band from Santos, with influences from Hard Rock to Death Metal resulting in a very modern Metal without forgetting the beddings of the Traditional Heavy Metal. The band was formed originally by Wanderson Barreto (Guitar and vocals), Alexander Blanco (Guitar), Vagner Silva (drums) and Luis Meles (bass).
The quartet spent the three following years composing songs for the EP “A Long Way to...” and only in 2003 the musician Rafael Valeira (keybords) brought more harmony and melody with different arrangements. Later, Wanderson left his microphone and the band receives the singer Jéssica Lanzelotti. Rygel was complete and it was time to leave the rehearsal studios to get into a recording studio and release the first EP.
In 2004, in the recording of the pre-production, Jéssica left the band. However, in the same month, Daniel Felipe assumes the voices as a frontman of Rygel, already “heating” to start recording.
In March of 2005, the EP “A Long Way To...”, containing six tracks was officially released. The recording sessions occurred in the "RA Studios", in Santos, and counted on the co-production, mixing, mastering and participation of the musician and producer Rodrigo Alves and the singers Danilo Lopes, Karol Souto and Pablo Sergio, recorded backing vocals, with Daniel.
The spreading of the EP had excellent repercussion, receiving innumerable compliments in reviews from magazines, as Roadie Crew, Valhallah, Rock Brigade, and in websites, as Whiplash.net. The EP “A Long Way To”... also competed for a prize as best Independent Heavy Metal album in the Dynamite magazine’s website, disputing with bands like Shaaman, Karma, Tuatha de Dannnan and others.
After the releasing of the EP, in June of 2005, the guitarist Alexander Blanco left the band. Rygel searched for someone to complete this emptiness and they found the former-guitarist of Dark Witch (band also from Santos), Aníbal Pontes, thus opening a new phase for the band.
In December of 2006, Fabiano Ramalho assumes the keyboards of the band, after the exit of Rafael in the beginning of the same year, and he already gets in to compose and to record the arrangements of the new album. In the end of 2008, Luiz Meles leaves the band. Thiago Canesso is chosen to complete the team.
The band, at the moment, prepares to the fans and audience their new album: “Realities”. As usual of the band, the eleven new tracks contain lyrics full of reflections about situations of the world nowadays concerning the men and its problems, aiming to transmit through the music positive messages. The new album was released in Brazil January/09 and it will be released in Europe through the Black Funeral Promotion.
